I've been working in the veterinary medicine field since 1990 and began training with my first dog, Belle, in 1999. I took training classes with her and proceeded on to agility classes and then to competition. After being asked to teach classes by one of my instructors, I started teaching basic puppy and obedience classes, and later added agility classes. I moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2003 where I worked at Dog Wood Park as the manager and trainer, teaching classes from puppy to canine good citizenship classes. I became a member of the Associaiton of Pet Dog Trainers and an evaluator for the American Kennel Club canine good citizen test. In 2005 I became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed and attended several of their national training conferences. I'm always pursuing continuing education opportuninties, primarily because of my love of dogs and desire to do all I can to help both them and their owners. Continuing education is also required to recertifiy as a CPDT-KA. I enjoy taking classes with my 12 year old Border Collie which also helps to keep my skills sharp. In addition, I also volunteer to do behavior assesments for Glen Highland Farms Sweet Border Collie Rescue.
I currently reside in Staunton, Virginia with my husband, son and our two dogs.
